Vehicle Identification

NP Tracker provide vehicle lookout reports based on community contributions and lookouts related to suspect and suspicious behavior linked to vehicle registrations (number plates).

Add a lookout report

NOTE: Ensure your lookout report is as complete as possible, to enable the person getting the lookout report to make an informed and correct decision.
** Add these to groups it will scan messages and automatically add a lookout if a plate is mentioned.

What to do if a vehicle has a lookout report linked

  • READ the report first and determine the appropriate response
  • We provide intel as we received it, try and correlate it and confirm before confronting the suspects
  • Remember, if you see a stolen vehicle or license plate, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE ACTION YOURSELF. Contact your nearest law enforcement agency to confirm the vehicle is still wanted

Report types

We will list all unique reports related to a vehicle that we received from the platforms we monitor, as far as possible all personal data will have been removed from the lookout by our bots that captured the lookout.

Lookout report

No lookout report

NP Tracker report listing lookouts for a specific vehicle, these are generated from community inputs and post to groups being monitored - it is an aid to determine a trend for a specific registration number.
example. A vehicle involved in a break-in in Kempton Park gets posted as a lookout on a patroller group in Kempton Park this vehicle is spotted and tested in Centurion 3 weeks later by a member he now gets the original lookout to help him understand the history of the vehicle better.
If no records -lookouts- are registered for a specific vehicle the system will respond with a message stating Numberplate NOT found, users can register a lookout with as much info as possible to aid other members if the vehicle is tested by someone else.

NPS-VCR

NPS-VCR report

NPS-VCR is a report used to determine and present vehicle make, model, partial VIN, and engine numbers. This information is obtained through our network of license disk scanners and external sources. Discrepancies can be reported and are corrected through a manual investigation. To review and report discrepancies, please visit /review.

Please note that in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces, vehicle number plates are reused. This may result in incorrect vehicle details for these vehicles, as the previously registered vehicle details may still be on record.

NPS-LAW

A report displaying the status of a tested vehicle obtained from the national law enforcement database. It indicates whether the vehicle has been listed in any crimes.

This report is only accessible to vetted users. To gain access, please visit /auth on the @NPTrackerBOT or @NPS_BOT platforms. Users can send a photo of the vehicle's number plate or license disk to the BOT for testing purposes.
