🐄 The Backstory: Built on Proven Community Collaboration

Our journey began with the development of NP Tracker, South Africa’s community-powered vehicle intelligence platform. The system was created to bridge the gap left by closed data systems, such as the SAPS MCD—that prevent the public and rural communities from accessing essential crime-fighting information.

Before NP Tracker:

• Communities worked in isolation
• Crime information was trapped inside private WhatsApp groups
• No national history of suspicious vehicles existed
• Patterns and repeat offenders were difficult to detect

NP Tracker transformed this landscape by creating a secure, nationwide database where suspicious vehicle information could be shared, verified, and retained. This enabled better cooperation, reduced information silos, and dramatically improved rural intelligence.

One of the greatest challenges in livestock theft investigations is identifying the rightful owner once animals have been moved or sold.

To solve this, we built South Africa’s first free, independent animal marking national lookup service for:

• Brandmarks
• Ear tags
• Tattoos
• Freeze marks

Anyone, including farmers, SAPS, rural safety structures, auctioneers, transport companies, buyers, and even community members, can search suspicious animals and instantly determine:

• Who the owner is
• How to contact them
• Whether the animal has been reported stolen
• Whether the marking matches an ongoing investigation
